The Perfection Of Rain

The rain leaves me breathless, in awe. There is something about the way it pours down as if الله is raining His infinite mercy upon us. I love feeling the rain on my face; it’s like a cleansing therapy. It clears my mind of all disastrous thoughts and fills my soul with peace. It’s true that when the rain comes down, it usually removes all the light that comes from the sky but even the clouds provide some light no matter how dark they are. Similarly, no matter how dark any situation in life is, there will always be light that wants to creep through but you’re not allowing it to because all you want to do is bathe in darkness.

The clouds fail to keep the vapour inside and they have to let off steam which comes down upon us as rain just as sometimes we have to let the words come out, we have to let the emotions come out because otherwise it could prove to be unhealthy for us. Sometimes it’s like you’ve taught yourself to keep everything inside because you’re not sure how the outside world will deal with everything that you hide but then there’s times when you have to learn to let go. These times are in Salah, when you know that your Lord has called upon you so that you can release all the darkness that the Dunya has caused you to Him.

Rain pours down in different speeds, sometimes it’s so much and sometimes its little trickles but it always stops, it is never endless, there is always an end. In parallel to this is life’s problems, some big and some small but you know that there is an end to them all. Each problem may come into your life at different times but there is always a way out of them, even if it takes so much time to reach the end, there is always an end awaiting you. Sometimes it’s so dark and you become trapped in the oceans of the problem but if you just look around you, you will see the end.

After the clouds have filled the sky and poured down all the rain, there comes the clear blue sky that filters through the clouds. Likewise when your eyes are moist from the shedding of tears, maybe those moments are the closest you get to seeing the world clearly, seeing your problems in a different light. Maybe after letting go of all the discrepancies that life presents you with, after crying out to الله, you can finally begin to leave everything in His hands knowing that all that happens in your life is with His will.

Love

Love is at it’s purest form when you continue to love someone even though they don’t love you back.

The reason why I say this is because loving someone with no expectations, with no attachments is the purest kind of love. Love that continues to live inside you even when the person you love is not able to feel it. Love that many people do not feel because for them, love is only about giving or only about making themselves feel good.

When someone loves you back, it’s nice, it makes you feel good but sooner or later it becomes based on attachments, infatuation, expectations and soon leads to disappointments, the reason why is because often, we forget that this is the Dunya. That you are not perfect and neither is anyone else because this Dunya isn’t perfect, nor was it ever meant to be. So to expect somebody to be everything that you want them to be is being ignorant. Simply because if الله does not expect us to be perfect, He overlooks our mistakes then how can we expect people to be perfect for us, and how can we hold grudges against people for all that they did not do.

We also tend to forget that the person we love, or even the love between people is a seed planted in the hearts of those people by الله, so if only we could see that when that person is afflicting us with pain, الله is using that person, that love as a tool to bring you back to Him. So often, we bring other meanings into context, of why it happened, but the purpose is simple. We just like to make everything complicated. When you start to view things simply, everything becomes clear and you no longer feel resentful or bitter.

Muhabba’h for your Rubb will keep you content with the people of this Dunya because you see the world through different eyes when you come to realisations that الله has given you. Realisations which are already in the Qur’an but we fail to use other people’s experiences to help us. As humans we need to experience situations ourselves before we can begin to understand them.

So that person who is experiencing unrequited love, don’t mock them because they are fortunate to be experiencing the purest kind of love of this Dunya. Love which is not in everyone’s destiny. Love which can destroy you but holding tight to the rope that binds you to الله, one day that love will become the love you attain in Jannah.

For maybe الله is saving this love for you, in the Akhirah. Maybe this Dunya will taint that love, so الله will give you it in Jannah. That is love in itself. The love of our Creator.

The Oceans Of Dunya

I’m crumbling beneath the waves of the Dunya,
With darkness surrounding me from every place I turn to,
I search for the light but darkness overpowers everything else.
The ocean is deep and I am at the very deepest end of it,
Drowning in darkness.

There comes an inkling of light,
If I just hold on, I know I’ll reach it.
If I could just hold on a little bit longer,
The light will be my light,
And I will become one with it,
Bathing in the light.

Only after drowning in darkness,
Will I appreciate bathing in the light.
Only after crumbling in the Dunya,
Will I appreciate Jannah.
